Am 5. Juni 2014 findet in der Kleinen Aula (A 120) ein Gastvortrag von Dr. Leszek Gardela zum Thema "The Vikings in Poland: An Overview" statt. Alle Interessierten sind herzlich eingeladen!
The lecture will summarise the last 100 years of research on the notion of Scandinavian presence in the area of what is now the territory of Poland. It will present the complicated and often controversial history of research, the groundbreaking discoveries made in Wolin and Truso, as well as the results of latest excavations undertaken in various parts of Poland. The lecture will not only examine archaeological evidence but also a range of Medieval textual sources.
